Top 10 Games Coming In 2020!

2020 is the start of a new decade! Back in 2010, we were all still playing on the Xbox 360 and the PS3, most likely playing Black Ops 1, with games like Minecraft not even being released til the year later. We've come a long way, and with holiday 2020 introducing us to the newest consoles from Microsoft and Sony, the Xbox (Series X) and the PS5 respectively. In this article we're going to take a look at what is possibly the last year of games made for the current generation of consoles. Sure through 2021 we'll get games released on both generations, no matter which console you're on. But this is really the end of an era, but it's not over yet. Here's the top 10 games to look forward too this year.

10.) Nioh 2

This successor to Nioh takes place before the events of the first game. The game play from the first installment is very similar to Dark Souls, however in this newest game your character is a human that has the ability to tap into the powers of the yokai and unleash those powers on your enemies. Nioh 2 releases on March 13th, and having played the first Nioh, I can tell you that if you're a fan of Dark Souls or Jedi Fallen Order for that matter, you'll love this game. I mean just look at this trailer and tell me this doesn't look appealing.

9.) Resident Evil 3 Remake

Fans were ecstatic when news broke of RE2 being brought to the current gen of consoles, and the remake even sold more copies than the original game did all those years ago. This new remake comes out April 3rd, and as someone who has never really been interested in the Resident Evil games, this new iteration of RE3 might make me get up and go buy a copy. As these remakes keep being pumped out I'm interested in seeing how far they go with how many remakes they're willing to put out. Find the trailer here.

8.) Marvels Avengers

I personally was not thinking any type of Avengers game was going to be made, mainly because of how hit or miss superhero games can be, not to mention team up games. We've gotten a few trailers for the new Avengers game, and I think the first thing that really didn't sit right with people was the fact that the characters in the game don't look like those from the MCU. Which honestly hit me in the same way. I wasn't fully sold that someone else who didn't look like Robert Downey Jr. could play Iron Man. But obviously games are made on a budget, and the characters are simply fiction. The gameplay looks a lot like Spider-Man, which was released early in 2019, and honestly was my favorite game of 2019. So only time will tell with Marvels Avengers if it's going to be a smash hit or not, with the ability to play as multiple hero's the games future does look bright, however the intricacies of gameplay could be its downfall. Find the trailer here.

7.) Dying Light 2

The sequel to the 2015 game Dying Light, a game that seamlessly intertwined parkour, zombies, and hand to hand combat together, should be on your radar if it isn't already. Dying Light seemed to be born out of an idea of "what if you could move like Assassins Creed, but you're constantly being chased by the undead?" And let me say that the first game was a perfect mix of the two. Hopefully the sequel brings more terrifying zombies and even cooler weapons for you to bash their heads in. Just don't say outside for too long... Find the trailer here.

6.) Half-Life: Alyx

At first I was going to rank this higher, or not at all honestly. However it's not every day you get a new Half-Life game. The one thing that's keeping this game from being higher on this list, even #1 is that it's being released in VR. And one thing I know is that not everybody owns a VR kit. Maybe this game will prompt more people to buy an Oculus or PS-VR, but the fact you can only play the newest Half-Life game in VR is really a bummer. But the reason it's on this list, is because it's the THIRD Half-Life game released by Valve, a game many people believed would never see the light of day. Although it's not called Half-Life 3, the release of this game has been dreamt of for years, so let's enjoy it! Even if it means watching someone else play it on Twitch because you don't own an Oculus... But hey as long as you get the plot right? Okay honestly watch this trailer and tell me if you're going to buy a VR kit for this game.

5.) Final Fantasy 7

The remake of this wildly popular Final Fantasy installment is sure to excite fans. The internet went wild with news of the remake of FF7 finally being put into production. Finally in 2020 those fans are getting what they deserve. With so much hype around this remake, if it does anything short of blowing fans away with nostalgia, it is sure to fail. But get real, this game is going to be one of the best sellers of 2020.

4.) Animal Crossing: New Horizons

When I tell you I can't wait for this game... I wish it was March 20th already. The first Animal Crossing game for the switch is set on an island. Sorta gives me 'Castaway' vibes, just being stranded on an island with other villagers, but it's Animal Crossing, hopefully there isn't any kind of existential terror looming over the entire game. Maybe you'll be able to buy your freedom from Tom Nook at some point. Fans of Animal Crossing have been counting down the days til release for more than a year now, and with the games release oh so close, it's going to be a hard one to put down! Find the trailer here!

3.) Ghost of Tsushima

Ghost of Tsushima has been a game I've been looking forward to playing for quite some time. Ever since it was announced at the Playstation event back in June of 2018, it has been on my list of "I need this game now!" The game itself looks insanely beautiful, and the gameplay reminds me a lot of 'For Honor' yet looking like something completely new, this game is sure to be a hit. Check out the 8 minute trailer for the game here and let me know in the comments below if you're going to buy.

2.) The Last Of Us Part 2

Having played the first Last Of Us, and enjoying it from beginning to end. The new installment of the game being released May 29th of this year can not come soon enough. With multiplayer being removed from this game, at least at launch, Naughty Dog is really betting that the single player campaign is the way to go. And honestly I completely agree. Not every game needs to have forced multiplayer at launch that eats away from the budget of the campaign. I would rather have a full game built around the story, especially for a franchise that brings people to tears like The Last Of Us. Can't wait to see more from this sequel, but in the meantime check out the trailer!

1.) Cyberpunk 2077

Never before have I been more excited for an RPG like Cyberpunk 2077. This game is set in a futuristic society with people modding themselves with cyborg parts in order to get the upper hand on their enemies. The big promise with this game is that you can customize your character however you'd like, form relationships with other characters, and mod yourself to become the ultimate cyborg walking the streets of Night City. This game will surely have people in awe of what is possible in this game, from vehicle mechanics to combat, Cyberpunk 2077 looks like a real competitor to open world RPG games out right now. Check out some gameplay here. After you watch this tell me why you wouldn't buy this so I can tell you how wrong you are. I mean Keanu Reeves is a main character in this game how could you not buy Cyberpunk 2077?
