"Don't F*ck With Cats" Is The Most Unsettling Documentary I've Ever Seen

After watching the trailer for the newest Netflix documentary "Don't F*ck With Cats" I was so uneasy about pressing play and seeing what horrific acts lied beyond. I mustered up the courage to press play after watching the trailer, and my partner and I began part one of the three part story of the Kitten Killer. I do warn anyone who's squeamish at all about acts of violence towards animals, this might not be the documentary for you.

I've seen my fair share of murder mystery shows like Criminal Minds and the like. And as a small kid, somewhere between 7-9 years old, one episode of Criminal Minds sticks out to me the most. All I remember is a scene where the murderer silently breaks into a families home with a knife, and takes them out one by one, jolting them awake before doing the deed. And as a kid I thought, holy shit well, if anyone breaks into my house with similar intentions... looks like I'm out of luck. It takes a certain level of, "yea that's possible" to the scariest degree, to really have me frightened before I go to bed. Criminal Minds did that to me as a kid, and "Don't F*ck With Cats" did that to me last night.

At certain points throughout the documentary I wasn't sure if it was real or not. The cinematography was so well put together that I didn't believe it was an actual documentary. A great example of what I'm talking about is a show called "Documentary Now" it's on Netflix go watch the episode "A Town, A Gangster, and A Festival." and you'll see what I mean. I didn't think this story was real, because of how well put together this was.

The Facebook investigators using Google Street View to search for a specific staircase in a specific city, then finding the staircase and reporting it to the local police to try and catch their Kitten Killer, all seemed too absurd to be set in the real world. Boy was I wrong. This documentary is entirely real, the actions by the Facebook investigators, as dramatic and crazy as they sound, make sense when placed in context with the real world.

What really took be back was the actions of the Kitten Killer when he got tired of killing animals. You're gonna have to watch the series to find out, but wow... the gruesomeness of some of the acts done by the Kitten Killer are just... unsettling. And the documentary does a really great job of making it seem like the killer is coming after YOU next. That's why I was so freaked out going to bed at night, as I checked all the doors and windows, making sure they were locked before going to sleep. Although the events took place almost 7 years ago, this documentary just had me freaked out to no end.

If you're looking for something that may freak you out, watch "Don't F*ck With Cats" as it really excels at a documentary and a horror film at the same time. The fact that it had me freaked out going to bed isn't necessarily a bad thing, the fact that Netflix was willing to take a risk making something so unsettling, really shows how unafraid they are about Disney+ and is a great hidden gem if you're trying to show some of your friends something scary before going to bed. The hairs on the back of my next were standing up the entire time, and it's nice to know those kittens got some justice in the end.
