Ghost of Tsushima: Why You NEED To Play

What you should know about Ghost of Tsushima:

The feeling of galloping down that hill on Jin's horse as Mongolian artillery reigns down from the sky as their boats sit off the coast of Tsushima, is something else, and honestly gave me some chills as I started the game for the first time. You'll find yourself with several tasks once you're a few hours into the game and each one seems to have its own way of drawing you into their narrative. Whether it's a random man on the side of the trail begging you to save his family, or following certain suspect hiding in the tall grass, avoiding packs of Mongolian foot soldiers, you'll find the suspense in every moment of this game.

Ghost of Tsushima packs a beautiful experience within a gritty and intelligently written story. There's so much to see in this game nonetheless do, I don't see myself getting tired of this game anytime soon. I'll most likely be playing it at least 2 or 3 more times in succession in Kurosawa mode.

Combat is probably the most exciting part of this game. There are two main paths of combat you can go down playing as Jin, full samurai, letting your enemies aware of your presence and challenging them head on, or a more dishonorable approach similar to a ninja, where the main focus is stealth and assassinations, sticking to the shadows and striking when it's most advantageous.

Personally I've been using a mix between the two fighting styles. The samurai style is the most bold, allowing for standoffs, where you challenge a group and call out a member to fight. I've noticed the enemies will start to feint attacks in order to trick you into releasing your button too soon, which has caught me off guard a time or two.

There are a few different ways to experience Ghost of Tsushima, English or Japanese voice over, or the highly cinematic Kurosawa mode, which has a Japanese voice over and the entire game is in black and white. Perhaps I'll find a way to record a let's play in Kurosawa mode, to see how the game would run in that mode and also for you to see some gameplay if you'd like.

I'm going to keep this post somewhat short because I'm only a few hours into the game, but this is one of the most cinematically beautiful games I've ever played and that's saying a lot. Pick this game up if you're looking for a challenging and rewarding experience.
