Playstation 5 Details!
In a less than entertaining presentation of the newest specs coming with the PS5, we finally got some details about what's going to be inside the machine.
The best and brightest from Sony this year will include 16 gigs of RAM, a custom 825GB SSD which is the key to the insane speeds that have been promised previously the company. Also to come in the machine is a custom eight-core AMD Zen 2 CPU clocked at 3.5GHz along with a custom AMD GPU that's coming with 10.28 teraflops and 36 complete units clocked at 2.23GHZ. There's a lot of numbers here, and that's why the press conference was mainly trending because of how it felt more like a lecture than a console reveal. Which we didn't get by the way, just the specs were shown off today.
If you don't know what any of that means, basically it boils down to way faster loading speeds and and a more efficient form of storage with SSD. A previous demo showed how fast loading times are going to get. In the demo, which was of Spider-Man, at about 1:35, you'll see how much the of the game is going to be able to be kept loaded and fully rendered even while moving at great speeds through the game. But don't be fooled when looking at the specs of the PS5 and Xbox side by side, you're going to see a difference, however the two machines are different, and benefits from the different components inside each one. However, these machines are still both very powerful, and will surely be better that what you have in your room at this moment.
Backwards compatibility was confirmed as well, with Playstation saying "almost all" of the top-100 PS4 games will be able to run on the PS5. While this isn't as good as what Xbox has been able to accomplish with their backwards compatibility with Xbox One and all the 360 games that they're able to play.
I think what everyone is waiting for now is to see what the machine is actually going to look like. However that's something that has been kept as a pretty tight secret, that hopefully someone lets loose soon.
